WELL, I did it again. Tuesday slipped right past. I have an excuse…does packing count? Monday was our Reveal over on Instagram for the Imagination Renovation of our Log Cabin Block Challenge…TA DONE!

I love my LITTLE quilt. Sure it is sorta one block, but so darn cute. I shared two photos. One using this little 2″ log cabin cuteness as a needle/clip holder and the other as a key fob. I have yet to add the grommet to make it a real fob to hold keys, hoping you get the idea with the photo!

The log cabin strips for this 2″ finished block/quilt were less than 1/4″. I paper pieced it to keep the little logs straight! The binding is 1/4″ on all sides, so the whole little quilt is 2 1/2″. When paper piecing with all the logs, it got a bit confusing with where each color went next. So, I wrote the color right on the paper to keep track. So very helpful!! And my first tip!

One thing that often happens with paper piecing… for me anyway…after tearing off the paper, sometimes the stitches show along the seamline. I don’t like seeing the white piecing stitches…(now granted, you can see the white quilting lines in some of the photos, that is ok!) To help hide the seam stitches I used a fabric maker to color the thread! Red maker along the red fabric helped the white go away. I knew I was not going to quilt along this log so it really helped to hide the seam stitching. Tip #2!

Since this is a little log quilt I chose to do a back to front binding. I loved this fun fabric that reminds me of fireworks. I hand stitched the binding to the front once turned.
